SDCC 2010

Well looks like i got screwed out of going to South Africa so I'm going to go with my original plan and go to the San Diego Comicon in 2010

I was given a ton of Info by a guy on myspace but if anyone knows of any good hotels that would be great.

Likliest plan is to go to San Diego for 4-5 days then LA for 3 days and maybe San Francisco


I just have to budget everything before making final plans lol

I know you & I chatted on the PM, but this is also my tips for anyone else interested in going....

Next year I'm planning on staying at the Marriott. It's on the expensive side ($250 a night for one bed), but it's in the middle of downtown so you're within walking distance to all kinds of restaurants and all the fun clubs for all the cool after-parties...and best of all you're right across the street from the convention center itself, so if you don't mind doing some walking (and if you do you then really shouldn't be going to Comic Con anyway! ) - the money you'll save on cabs & the trolley more than makes up for it.
Plus this time I'm planning for 4 or 5 of us to split the cost, which helps.
This last time I stayed at one of the King's Inn on Hotel Circle Drive. The rates were cheaper ($175 for single bed) and if you don't mind walking about half a mile to the Trolley station then that's another option.

LA & San Francisco are wonderful places to visit but San Diego is also a pretty awesome city to just hang out.
Besides the Con you've also got Legoland, Sea World, the Harbor - where you can walk on the pier & check out the miltary bases, and The San Diego zoo - which is one of the largest zoos in the country. One year I spent a whole day just checking out the primate exhibit.

If i do go and if it's possible i wouldn't mind sharing a room with someone if it splits the cost. In all fairness Im not looking for the 4 day pass TBH Once i see all the shit i wanna see (the displays) I don't really care after that LOL Im dnt get in a bunch about having to see exclusive footage etc etc

But like i say im still weighing up all the costs of going. Flight and accomodation alone are gonna cost me over £1100 then im more than likely to spend a further £700 - £1000 on food, toys, travel.

Are you going from the day it opens or earlier?

You can skip LA as it's a festering cancer in Cali that's ugly and hard to get around.

Im ditching cali for thaili (see what i did there?) Im going to Thailand over the Xmas hols with my bro then possibly go home to Greece in July

Cali worked way too expensive and I can literally do two holidays for the price of one

And tbh i just want to chill out on a beach next year. Work gives us 10 days off at Xmas every year and seeing as my family just wants to tear themselves apart i'd rather do soming productive

Back in 2001 when 4 of us went together my friend Mike brought his girlfriend so we let them have the bed while the rest of us brought sleeping bags.
If we went this year (which is still up in the air at the moment) and it were just us guys, since none of us are all that picky we'd just let whoever actually reserved the room have the bed. Unless our friend Danny goes, then we'd probably let him have it.
He's kind of a sissy when it comes to roughing it.
