Guy Ritchie to direct Lobo film

Yeah its true

I couldn't think of worse director for a comic book film than one trick pony Guy Ritchie.

Presumably it'll be Jason Statham playing Lobo.

The plot sounds worse than Elektra & Catwoman combined

And those are two films without a notable plot.

Why does all superhero/comic stuff have to happen on Earth? Ridiculous.

I chose those two because they had the most generic plots I could think of

Movie companies are too cheap to do anything resembling the cantina scene in Star Wars & they seem to think audiences won't accept anything that is set somewhere other than earth.

That's exactly where they went wrong with MOTU and F4 ROTSS and then there was script, acting, budget etc.

I hope Green Lantern is set in space, we can't have everything set in cities all the time otherwise comic films are gonna die on their arse.

I will respectfully disagree about FF:RotSS the problem wasn't that it was set on earth, although had there been a scene similar to the beginning of Transformers: the movie when Unicron attacks the planet & the inhabitants are running about crapping themselves it would've improved it slightly... but only slightly

Lobo Tpb's The Last Czarnian & Lobo's Back, other than that the ongoing was ok & some of the one-shots like Blazing Chain of Love , Paramilitary Christmas Special & the Convention Special were decent

Cheers Fox, I've read some of the early 90s stuff so I'm gonna give Portrait of Bastich a read. I just read Scott Ian of Anthrax fame is doing a Lobo 2 parter. Sounds a bit risky to me.

BTW have read the DC Justice trilogy? Its got a lot of favourable reviews so I might give that a go as well.

I can't remember whether I've read Portrait of a Bastich.

He should do a decent job it's just a shame they couldn't get Simon Bisley to do the art.

Producer Joel Silver told the Los Angeles Times that Guy Ritchie is no longer attached to direct Warner Bros. Pictures' adaptation of the DC Comics title Lobo because the studio is moving forward with Sherlock Holmes 2.

"I don't think he's going to do it now," Silver, who is producing both properties, said. "The studio wants us and Guy to focus on making another 'Sherlock Holmes.' So I think we're going to be doing that. But we're seeing what happens with this. Everybody is analyzing everything. It's all kind of happening right now as we talk."

Asked if that means Lobo will be postponed until Ritchie is free, Silver said he thinks they will more likely go with a different director.
