Like any group of people that follow a religion or ideology, you have your good ones and your morons.

I've grown up surrounded by Christianity. Orthodox Christians to be precise and compared to a lot of other sect of Xstianity they're very liberal. In fact I think the unwritten rule is Do what you like just come to Church on Sunday and Easter

In whole I don't look at religion favourably, especially when it interferes with the well being of the masses but If people want to use it as a means to get by, bring them hope and happiness without hurting anyone else then it's not our place to say. If they use it as a tool for hate and restricting the rights of others then I get a bit pissed. But the same can be said for any ideology (communism, capitalism, fascism etc) if something goes against the greater good and well being of humanity then it has to be kept in check.

Those are my thoughts.

I agree you don't have to be religious to be a good or moral person.

When I was a child I was involved in a christian youth paramilitary movement and I hated it. And there was the bollocks about getting told that I had caused a thunderstorm as I was naughty earlier in the day

I had a row with a christian recently about satanism of all things. I'm not a satanist I just know a bit about it from reading books years ago. It made me realise just how hypocritical and intolerant the christian religion is. Its almost like they think they're better than everyone else.

The Irony with satanism is that it speaks more to the human mind than Christianity does. It allows you to be what you want to be and not what some bloke from 200 years ago wants you to be.

People who follow one single ideology tend to look down or hate on others who don't follow suit. Hell I've seen Chrstians tear each other apart for either being of a different sect or for being more liberal with their views than other Christians.

It all boils down to us still having a tribal mentality. My tribe likes green, those that don't are wrong. If people realised that working together for the common good of mankind is the best way to function as a planet (we're WAY beyond countries and tribes now) then they'd realise there's no need for a certain ideology. But in order to that you need to rip apart the current system and start again

True what you say about Satanism. Religion is full of restraint and control whereas that's the last thing people really want. People want to be free to have sex, do drugs, run around naked, watch porn. You can see why people would find it appealing but overall I just see it as a counter/pseudo religion created to piss off the christians.

Everyone presumes their religion is the one true religion. So there for everyone is right. Just let it be. Don't force your's on me and I'll return the favor.

I find christians like to preach and try to convert and it all seems to do is piss people off. I don't see that happen with people of other faiths/religions they kind of get on with it. So I find myself more respectful of buddhism, hinduism etc

The preaching is part of the gospel sadly, they feel it is their duty to save our souls hence why they do it. The higher ups just know it means more money

If Christians followed the original message and not the one of the Romans (who distorted it to suit the needs of the empire) they'd be more like the Buddhists. Jesus' message was a more liberal interpretation of Judaism (If we feel the need to put it into context. Yeah the romans/catholics were to blame as much him. They changed all the pagan festivals in to christian ones. Which was pretty pointless as we still eat loads and get presents.
