Mass immigration to the UK - should we be worried?

I dunno what its like in your areas. But in mine I've seen a huge increase the amount of foreign people living and working my area. It doesn't affect me in any way at that moment as I have a job they can't do and I don't live in social housing. Yet I can't help but think that this mass and seemingly uncontrolled explosion in population will have an extremely detrimental effect on the future of our country.

What do you reckon?

Im not worried. When the Tories win the next election they'll bring good ol fashioned racism and the new immigration laws

IMF the only things that worry me and piss me off about mass immigration is that we do NOT have the infrastructure to support it. Our hospitals are packed out with them in my area. Housing is stretched, councils are stretched. PC really backfired on this one.

My policy is as long as you have the infrastructure to support it let them come. You cant blame them for wanting a better life. As long we dont just give it to them willy nilly

I hope the Tories do something about about it cos Labour's open door plan will have a dire consequences in the long wrong. We have a huge indigenous unemployed workforce who are happy just to sit on there arses and do nothing all day whilst the rest of us work to pay for them. So there is no need to look abroad for workers to come here to work, those who sit on their arse should have their benefits stopped. Those coming here should not be entitled to benefits or social housing at all.

I agree we do need immigrants but it needs to be very closely monitored and controlled. And I think immigrants do need to be in the minority in all areas to keep a cultural balance otherwise the country will loose its sense of identity and purpose.

Those who do come here don't have any access to benefits or social housing, they have to contribute for x amount of years before having any kind of entitlement.

I haven't seen any change in immigration, although that might be due to the smells

Some asylum seekers get social housing, I saw a programme on it not to long ago where some Iraqi's were annoyed with the colour of the carpet they were given in their house.

People from EU member countries are entitled to child benefits here. There have been numerous reports of people claiming in both countries as it was not possible to check if they were claiming or not.

Asylum Seekers are different from Immigrants, Asylum seekers are fleeing from their country of origin because it is no longer safe for them to live there.

Any links to these reports because I really can't see that happening trust me if the DWP suspected people of doing that they would be found out.

Something that could easily be solved with inter-agency communication (& someone who speaks polish ), although if it's a big problem what'll happen is all Polish applicants will be subject to rigorous checks before being allowed to acces Child benefits.
