Comic-Con: It's ON!

I didn't get badges this year but I agreed to volunteer to work at Terry Moore's booth.
He's a local artist that's done some incredible work, like a run on The Runaways, and his own titles Strangers in Paradise & Echo (which got optioned for a film!).

For my time I get into the con all 5 days & free hotel. The only real downside is I really do have to work, so I won't have time to do a lot of looking around the show, and will miss all the panels.
No big deal, though. DC & Marvel aren't doing any movies this year, and to get into the Dr. Who panel you have to sit through the fucking glee presentation.
No thanks....

I'm pretty sure I'll get the exclusives I want. Today I put in my pre-order for Swamp Thing & Queen Marlena from Mattel so I'm getting those for sure!
I know people from Graphitti so the Reverse Flash shouldn't be a problem either.
As for Hasbro, I have friends going to the show and they've said they'll pick up what I need, which is only Cobra Starscream & Indy box set anyway.

Mostly looking forward to all the off-site parties & events! Those are always more fun than anything that happens inside! Naked lady body painting, etc...

Just got back. Holy fuck it was crazier this year than even 2 yrs. ago.

Had fun, though. Terry sold out of the exclusive version of the Echo hardcover.
His new book, Rachel Rising, about zombies, was on sale and is pretty damn cool.

The floor was crazy. Saw lots of cool stuff. On Saturday night we ate sushi at the same place as Patrick Stewart & Chevy Chase.
I felt bad for Julie, she was walking to the bathroom & ran into some douchebag from Vampire Diaries. She asked for a picture but he said nah I gotta get outta here & walked away. At least she got to see her fucking glee panel, but also stayed for Supernatural & Dr. Who!
We also had fun at Trickster, an off-site indie artists-only setup at a wine bar across the street. We saw Tom Morello from RATM do an awesome acoustic set & talk about his new comic Orchid, and at the cocktail party later was like an artist lover's geek-out!
No less than Eric Powell, Jimmy Palmiotti, Amanda Conner, Mike Mignola, Dave Gibbons(!) & Steve Niles were mingling with the crowd.

You can see how HUGE the Indy set is. It wouldn't fit in our suitcases so we had to count it as a carry-on. Thankfully it passed security & wasn't damaged in the overhead bin.

I'd say it's been a disappointing year in terms of figs. The biggest disappointment was Neca and Mattel Hasbro made me smile with the ML's apart from the fucking usual peg warmers still being put in the line.

Only figs I wanna get my hands on are Zartana and the Sentinel but at $60? fuck that

I wanted the Sentinel & the big Death Star set, but were expensive as shit & neither one would've fit in the luggage, either.
Zaranna was 1 per person, and I bought her for a friend. For the first time I got more art than toys, like an original Eric Powell page from Chimichanga!, which I can't wait to frame & hang next to my Mignola & Colan pieces!

Yeah whats with charging $60 for a fucking 12" figure? where do they have the balls to try that shit. Fuck that!! I wanted Zarana but the bitch is sold out and now scalper are flogging her for double for the pink and quadruple for the black. Fuck that and ignore the PM i sent ya it was for Zarana LOL

I got the ML Thor and the Spidey & Avengers Mighty Muggs. They were selling them cheaper than at the con, and with the free shipping code I saved money & the hassle of fitting them all in the luggage.

The Mattel shit goes up August 1st. One last try for a Stay Puft.

Haha! I had to follow the wookiee chick around for 10 minutes to get close enough to get her to pose for me. She was pretty cool, though.
The chick dressed like Cammy was getting pissed because she was tired of posing, so I just took the shot & said "next time just bend over!"

SDCC definitely ain't so sausage fest anymore. The female turnout was pretty impressive.
Probably the first year I saw more Doctor Who costumes than Slave Leia.
