I think Mattel is kinda shooting themselves making an entire line of Blackest Night figures.
Plenty of reasons why this wave will sit on shelves:
1. That storyline has come & gone. And even though it was well written & had a decent ending, it wasn't as epic level as Secret Invasion or even The Seige, and will probably be forgotten over time.
All Brightest Day is doing is beating a dead horse. I can't wait for it to fucking end!
2. This absolutely should've been a very limited walmart wave, instead of a wave that had the Super Powers Joker for crap's sake!
3. Parents aren't gonna buy freaked-out looking versions of their superheroes for the kids, and most collectors probably already have the DCD versions of these characters.
The only ones I ever wanted were Sapphire WW & Blue Flash & I've had them for a while now.
I like the GL classics that are coming out, though. And yeah it's definitely all about capitalizing on the movie. Just like we'll probably be seeing plenty of Batman & Superman stuff when they get in theaters again.
I think GL the movie will be okay. Some things I'm not liking, like the Nike spandex suit with too much green, and the overdone looking power lanters, but I have to say the concept art of OA & the Tomar Re pic make me pretty happy.
About Cap, I'm still not 100% sold on Evans - I think he's a bit too man pretty to be a convincing Steve Rogers - but Joe Johnston's work is top notch.
He turned The Wolfman into a solid work, so I'm optimistic.
Shouldn't we see some kind of trailer by now??
