I'm officially Blu-Rayed, yo!

Thumbing though the Best Buy ad this morning I noticed the Star Trek movie comes out Tuesday, and I was muttering to myself about wanting to go ahead & buy the blu-ray version and just wait til I get the player to watch it, when my wife had enough and said screw it we're going there today to buy one, so now I'm 100% full-on HD baby!

I wound up buying a Panasonic, it cost $199 and came with a free copy of "Up".
It's pretty sweet! You can connect it to the internet & watch YouTube videos in HD.
Also picked up a few movies, too...
Stargate (the original Kurt Russel movie) and Enter the Dragon were only $10 each & got X2 & ID4 for $17.99 each
Also picked up the original Star Trek movies (1-6) box set for $65, regularly that sucker's $100!

I've already watched a little of Up and it's waaay better than the 3D version I saw at the movies. It's so awesome. Now I REALLY don't have a reason to go out at night anymore.
Not that I ever could, anyway.

Anyway I'm so glad I skipped the PS3 because honestly I'd probably never buy any games for it. Since my desire to play the new Metal Gear has long since passed.
And seriously how different/better can GoW III actually be?

Meh, I've got my Xbox & the mrs has her Wii and that's fine as far as gaming goes. I'm just psyched I've finally gotten this.
Tonight we watched Akira in HD. HOLY SHIT! The clarity of the background is god damn phenomenal! The streaking lights from the motorcycles during the race never looked this good. Awesome job, Bandai.

I know both Star Trek & Fight Club come out next week, and I gotta buy those two. I also wanna get the Watchmen Ultimate Cut when it comes out (soon I think?).
Plus I've already made a wishlist for my wife (King Kong, The Matrix Trilogy, Texas Chainsaw Massacre <the original!>, Wall-E, Dark Knight, and The Crow if it's out yet)

Speaking of which, there's an old lady that lives 3 houses down from us. She must be near 80 and still works in her yard and walks every other day. I am totally willing to ring her doorbell, beat the shit out of her, and post it on YouTube if it means getting the Star Wars & LOTR Trilogies any sooner!

All this speak of Blu ray has made me feel left out so I'm gonna get a HDTV and Blu Ray player on finance. Our DVD player is crap and our TV is okay but needs updating so I can enjoy my films like everyone else does.

I'm a bit clueless on TVs, I know some of the terms but I don't know what's good and what isn't. I presume 1080p is better than 1080? I don't know how many scarts and HDMI ports are required though. The budget is £550 both. If anyone could me out it would be appreciated.

1080p very good. You want an ethernet port on your blu-ray to allow you to access BDLive & updates.
Scart & HDMI really depends on how much & what you are gonna plug into it.

And since you're starting out I've heard LCD screens are the best.

Went to Target this afternoon & picked up Ghostbusters 2-pack & King Kong for $24.99 each. They also had Kill Bill 1 & 2 for $14.99 each but I'm still holding out for the "whole bloody affair" release. And wtf hasn't the Grindhouse theatrical cut come out yet?? Basterds!

My father in law got us our 37" flat screen & home theater soundsystem last Xmas.

200hz and 600hz are in at the mo so keep an eye out. My LG is 600hz and its just superb.

I guess they're quite pricey by US standards. I don't they cost more than £20 in the UK but I could be wrong.

The price depends on the film & where you buy from a lot of films are currently over £20.

I finally got my LCD tv last night. I chose this one after looking at literally 100s of reviews and whatnot.

Its costing £440 between us after the discounts we got. The tv is fantastic. Hopefully I'll be getting a blu ray player soon.
